Chris Jerichos Best Acting Roles

Publish date: 2024-06-30

Chris Jericho‘s evolution as a performer needs to be studied – and for all the good reasons. Jericho has successfully reinvented himself over the years. He’s won championships around the world. He’s also had incredible rivalries with some of the best wrestlers in the world.

Much like some of his former colleagues in WWE, Jericho has had a few roles in movies and TV shows as well. However, the first-ever AEW World Champion never transitioned to Hollywood full-time like John Cena or Batista; keeping showbiz as a side hustle.

With that being said, here are Chris Jericho’s best acting roles.

MacGruber (2010)

Chris Jericho has always had a knack for comedy. Much of his work in WCW and WWE featured comedy segments with the likes of Dean Malenko and Stephanie McMahon. Even the final years of his WWE career saw him work the hilarious “best friends” gimmick with Kevin Owens.

Back in 2010, the Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla guest-starred in MacGruber. This movie was a parody of the American television series MacGyver. In his 3rd book, “The Best in the World: At What I Have No Idea,” Jericho revealed he ad-libbed a line that ended up being part of the final cut.

MacGruber also featured cameos from MVP, Mark Henry, Big Show, and other wrestlers.

Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! (2015)

The Sharkando franchise is one of the wildest franchises in Hollywood. The first film came out in 2013. It ended up being popular enough to spawn multiple sequels. Jericho joined the franchise in the third part, Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! in 2015.

Like Kurt Angle in the previous installment, Jericho had a brief role in the scientifically inaccurate movie. He played Bruce, a park attendant for a steel roller coaster at Universal Studios Florida. The character died in the most creative way possible. We don’t know if the shark that killed Bruce (aka Jericho) at Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit ever made the list.

Jay And Silent Bob Reboot (2019)

Fans might be able to recall the heavy promotion All Elite Wrestling did for Jay and Silent Bob Reboot back in 2019. The titular pair sat ringside for the debut episode of AEW Dynamite. Vince McMahon was reportedly not happy about that and axed WWE’s plans for Kevin Smith and co-star Jason Mewes to appear on the season premiere of SmackDown October 14, 2019 on Fox.

McMahon’s alleged disapproval of Smith and Mewes also had a lot to do with Chris Jericho, who was AEW’s World Champion at the time and a guest star on the sequel to the critically acclaimed Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

As far as the role goes, Jericho played the KKK Grand Wizard in the stoner buddy comedy.

Terrifier 2 (2022)

The original Terrifier film left a disturbing impression on its viewers. Chris Jericho, who saw the first part, promoted it heavily among his fanbase in 2016. This free promotion got him in contact with director Damien Leone and actor David Howard Thornton, the infamous Art the Clown in Terrifier 1 and 2.

Leone cast Jericho as Burke a nurse, who appears in a mid-credits scene at the psychiatric asylum where Victoria (Samantha Scaffidi) is being held following the events of Terrifier. The Fozzy frontman explained in an interview with Screen Rant he almost puked filming his scene.

“The original scene that I did was the ending of the movie. And in this timeframe, another movie came out with the same ending! Damien had to reshoot it. So my part got kind of cut down. But that’s fine. It’s how it goes.

“In the film, I have to eat like, a zombie platter. It’s Halloween, so my wife has made all these zombie treats. One of them was a jellied eyeball. I think it was kind of custard with some kind of almost the plastic candy, and I had to eat like five of them. And they were cold, and they were gelatinous. And it was really kind of getting to me. It was really gross. And I remember [Damien] was like, ‘Can you just eat one more?’ And I was like, ‘Dude, I’ll eat one more, and then that’s it! Because I’m gonna fucking puke if I have to do another one of these,'” Jericho recalled.

But I’m Chris Jericho! (2013-2015) – Web series

In 2013, Jericho landed one of the main roles a comedy web series named after him. But I’m Chris Jericho saw the pro wrestling play a fictionalized version of himself as a pro wrestler struggling to become an actor following his in-ring retirement.

The web series won big at the 15th Canadian Comedy Awards in 2014.
