Brazilian citizen Danelo Souza Cavalcante, 34, was found guilty of murder in August. 

In 2021, Cavalcante was detained and accused of stabbing to death his ex-girlfriend Deborah Brando in front of her two young children, ages seven and four.

According to the prosecution, Danelo allegedly yanked his ex-girlfriend by the hair, tossed her to the ground, and then stabbed her 38 times, causing her to bleed to death.

After the incident, Brando’s young children went to the neighbors for assistance, and Danelo left the scene of the crime. He was apprehended by police after they discovered him trying to flee to Mexico.

Danelo Cavalcante Weight Loss: Illness And Health Update 2023

Danelo Cavalcante weight loss has been a topic of interest for people. Talking about that he might have lost some weight because he was in prison, but the exact weight he lost is not revealed yet.

During a news conference on Wednesday, police presented surveillance footage that showed Cavalcante starting to make his getaway.

In a jail yard tunnel, Cavalcante is shown standing and surveying his surroundings before placing his hands on the wall and stepping backward to start moving perpendicularly. 

He leaves the field of view of the camera after seven seconds.

The Chester County Prison was fully staffed at the time of Cavalcante’s breakout, according to acting warden Howard Holland, but it took guards more than an hour to alert the local emergency services to the breakout.

The security camera footage shows that Cavalcante climbed the wall at around 9:45 a.m. and that it took guards until around 9:45 a.m. to realize he was missing.

As part of the investigation, a tower guard who had been on duty at the time was placed on leave.

Danelo Cavalcante is not ill but he is being sought after by a police K-9 that is recovering from heat illness.

The Pennsylvania State Police K-9 Loki is healing after contracting a heat-related sickness while assisting in the hunt for fugitive prisoner Danelo Cavalcante.

He had been hurt earlier in the week, according to the police, and was released from the veterinary hospital on Thursday. 

The search has been particularly difficult due to the area’s excessive humidity and record-breaking temperatures.

In a statement to the media on Thursday, Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens said, “He is doing well. He is anticipated to make a full recovery and return to work within the next week.”

State police expressed their gratitude to the veterinarian team for caring for Loki in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.  

Since his escape from Chester County Prison on August 31, Cavalcante has been on the run. Since then, the hunt has involved hundreds of police officers, K-9s, aircraft units, and many kinds of technology.

Where Are Authorities Searching Now?

Residents have received reverse 9-1-1 alert calls from the authorities as recently as Wednesday, and they are still being urged to keep their homes secure and to keep an eye out for lost vehicles, bicycles, or other modes of transportation.

From helicopters flying over the search region, a recording of Cavalcante’s mother pleading for his peaceful surrender is being aired.

According to NPR member station WHYY, the search has become more difficult due to the dense foliage and hot weather. 

Thermal cameras have become useless due to the extreme heat, and one tactical search dog has been hospitalized as a result.

Around Pocopson, which is located about 25 miles west of Philadelphia, police are concentrating their efforts in an area that is about seven square miles large. 

The FBI, Pennsylvania State Police, and US Customs and Border Protection have sent out reinforcements to help in the hunt.
